For me, though, the white noise after David Bullard was fired was loud enough to get through. Whatever the merits of his column, the racist acidity that reared its head in online comments was quite something. It was a font of bile. The truth is the bubble is tiny. Venture out of the cities and onto farms and the truth is searingly obvious: many white South Africans, young and old, are racist. They use the K-word, call blacks “munts” and “savages”.
