Unscheduled load shedding by the State-owned power utility Eskom resumed on Monday morning, owing to unplanned outages of four large generating units over the weekend, resulting in a loss of some 2 400 MW.
Eskom spokesperson Andrew Etzinger explained that the utility hoped to have two of the four units back on line by the end of the day, but the situation would remain tight throughout the week.
